Developing & Supporting Residents’ Associations in Co. Leitrim

We encourage and support residents in setting up and managing a residents’ association for their estate. This empowers residents and provides a forum to discuss and deal with issues, and to develop community spirit.

Estates with an active residents’ association may apply each year for a council grant. This can be used to pay for maintenance of the grounds through a local Community Employment scheme (estates pay for the petrol used in mowing the grass) and public liability insurance. Also covered are amenities such as power tools for use by residents and a community shed; planting of flowers, shrubs and trees; and community events for residents. The amount of the grant currently depends on the number of houses in the estate.
